Total funds raised by crypto payment companies jumped to US$2.6 billion in 2025, more than the total raised in the past three years

According to Bloomberg, total private equity financing in the cryptocurrency sector has increased from nearly US$13 billion in 2024 to US$20.4 billion in 2025, but it is still below the peak of US$27.6 billion in 2022. The two main areas of private equity financing are "investment and trading infrastructure" and "brokers and exchanges"(i.e. financial applications). Payment infrastructure ranks third. The total amount of money raised by cryptocurrency payment companies will jump to US$2.6 billion in 2025, more than the total amount raised in the past three years. Given MasterCard's recent acquisition of BVNK, this number is expected to grow further this year. In contrast, blockchain game financing has dropped sharply from US$3.76 billion in 2022 (approximately 14% of the total) to 2025 and is no longer counted as a separate category. Web3dApp raised $5.2 billion in 2022. In the 2025 report, the dApp category for consumer applications alone received only US$864 million in financing.
