According to Cointelegraph, Google has set 2029 as a deadline for subsequent quantum code migration, warning that quantum computing threats may come sooner than expected. Google said rapid advances in quantum computing hardware and quantum error correction, as well as updates to the timetable for quantum computers to crack current encryption standards, have increased the urgency of action. This is the first time that Google has set a timetable for quantum capabilities after deployment of its products, earlier than some industries predicted "Q-Day". Google is developing its quantum chip Willow, which has 105 qubits and is one of the most powerful quantum processors currently available.
