Mizuho: Mastercard is expected to become the "network connector" between cryptocurrency and fiat currency after acquiring BVNK
According to TheBlock, Mizuho analysts Dan Dolev and Alexander Jenkins said that after MasterCard's acquisition of stablecoin startup BVNK, it is expected to become a "network connector" between fiat and cryptocurrency. Analysts pointed out that stablecoins will become accelerators rather than threats to existing networks, especially in areas such as B2B cross-border payments, remittances, creator economy and gig economy, where card penetration is limited and stablecoins can unleash faster, cheaper, round-the-clock payment capabilities. Analysts maintain MasterCard's "outperform" rating with a stock price target of $666. MasterCard previously announced plans to acquire BVNK for US$1.8 billion, which provides a gold deposit channel for fiat and cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and tokenized deposit conversions, cross-chain functions and wallet infrastructure. Mizuho pointed out that BVNK's licensing framework allows customers to quickly start businesses and supports the long-term transition to self-managed bank-owned infrastructure, while MasterCard has joined the Global Crypto Partner Program, which consists of more than 85 crypto-native companies.
