Irish police successfully cracked a drug dealer's dusty Bitcoin wallet and seized 500 BTC
According to Cointelegraph, the Criminal Assets Bureau of the Irish National Police announced that it had successfully cracked one of the 12 Bitcoin wallets associated with a convicted drug dealer and obtained 500 bitcoins worth more than $35 million. The owner of the wallet is Clifton Collins, who was sentenced to five years in prison in 2017 for growing and selling marijuana. Collins purchased 6000 bitcoins with proceeds from drug trade between 2011 and 2012 and stored them in 12 wallets. The key was printed on a piece of A4 paper and hidden in a fishing rod box. Later, the landlord cleared the house and lost it. Earlier today, it was reported that Irish drug dealers deposited 500 BTC worth US$35.44 million into Coinbase in nearly 10 years.
