Thailand reaches agreement with Iran on passage of its own oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz
Thai Prime Minister Anutin announced today that in response to crises such as rising domestic oil prices in Thailand triggered by the situation in the Middle East, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently actively communicated with relevant countries. According to the current agreement reached with Iran, Thai oil tankers can safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Anutin held a media meeting at the Prime Minister's Office that day to explain the government's measures to deal with oil price fluctuations. He said that the government will next focus on promoting diplomatic coordination, energy security, commodity price control and people's livelihood protection, and calls on the public to jointly implement energy-saving measures to respond.
Thai Foreign Minister Sihasa said Thailand has proposed convening a special meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers to discuss options to ease tensions. Thailand still has stable oil reserves, and the government is actively seeking additional energy sources through diplomatic channels.
