Bithumb launches asset protection process to recover misissued bitcoins

South Korean exchange Bithumb has initiated asset seizure and preservation procedures for relevant users because it failed to recover some of the bitcoins that had been mistakenly issued previously. The incident occurred during the reward distribution period of the event in February. It was originally planned to distribute a total of 620,000 won in rewards to 249 users, but an operational error resulted in the issuance in units of "Bitcoin". Although the platform withdrew its operation dozens of minutes later, some users had completed transactions or transferred assets, resulting in approximately 12.3 billion won worth of assets not being recovered. Subsequently, the platform contacted the users one by one, and most of the funds had been returned, but some users still refused to return them.
