Balancer announced the closure of BalancerLabs and transition to DAO architecture
Fernando Martinelli, co-founder of the Balancer Agreement, announced that BalancerLabs (BLabs) will be officially closed. He said that BLabs, as a corporate entity, has become a burden on the development of the agreement, and that due to the continued legal risks of the v2 vulnerability on November 3, 2025, and the lack of sustainable revenue sources, the decision to close is inevitable.
BLabs core team members will be merged into BalancerOpCo through governance votes, and the relevant proposals will be submitted by Marcus and Danko.
Fernando also said that the agreement still has practical operational value-annualized total fee revenue over the past three months has exceeded US$1 million-and therefore will not cease operations completely. He clearly supports the current proposed token-economics reorganization plan, with core contents including: reducing BAL emissions to zero, shutting down the veBAL mechanism, placing 100% of agreement fees into the DAO treasury, and reducing the v3 agreement share ratio to 25%. Attract organic liquidity and provide a repurchase exit channel for BAL holders.
