AI proxy encryption payment infrastructure has a major security breach, LLM router has caused $500,000 wallet stolen
According to market news, researchers from the University of California, Santa Barbara, the University of California, San Diego, blockchain security company Fuzzland and WorldLibertyFinancial jointly released a paper warning that "LLM routers"-intermediate services located between users and AI models-have become a major threat to the security of cryptographic assets. Researchers found that 26 LLM routers were secretly injecting malicious tool calls and stealing user credentials, including an incident that resulted in the clearing of a customer's $500,000 encrypted wallet. In addition, by "polluting" the router ecosystem, researchers were able to control about 400 downstream hosts in a matter of hours. Because sensitive data such as private keys and API credentials is often transmitted through these routers in clear text, users actually expose assets to risk without knowing it. Researchers pointed out that as McKinsey predicts that AI agents will mediate US$3 trillion to US$5 trillion in global consumer commerce by 2030, Binance founder Zhao Changpeng also predicts that the payment volume of AI agents will be one million times that of humans. The current infrastructure security seriously lags behind the development speed of the industry, and the "weakest link" risks may trigger a systemic chain crisis.
