US media: Senior US officials say the blockade against Iraq has officially taken effect, with more than 15 warships deployed in place
On April 13, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, a senior U.S. official revealed that the U.S. blockade of Iran has officially taken effect, and more than 15 U.S. warships are currently deployed to support the operation. According to U.S. Navy and Central Command officials, the United States has deployed an aircraft carrier, multiple missile destroyers, an amphibious assault ship and several other warships in the Middle East. These ships can launch helicopters to support boarding and inspection operations, and some of them can also guide merchant ships to specific areas for berthing. Retired Vice Admiral Kevin Donegan said the warships may operate outside the Strait of Hormuz to avoid Iranian fire threats. "There are many ways to structure this operation, and there are a lot of boarding and inspection forces in the area right now," Donegan said. Don't expect all actions to take place simultaneously at once; this will be a step-by-step establishment process. The blockade takes time to take effect."
