CBA: The US dollar should continue to benefit from slowing global economic growth
On April 15, Joe Capros, head of international economics at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), said that during the Asian trading session, the US dollar index remained stable above 98. There were reports that the United States and Iran were seeking a new round of talks to end the war. He said it would not be surprising if the two-week ceasefire was extended to facilitate more talks. But he also pointed out that the global economy needs to adapt to reduced energy supplies. Higher interest rates will help align demand with supply. The U.S. dollar should continue to benefit from the slowdown in global economic growth because it is a safe-haven currency.
