Britain's Financial Conduct Authority seeks advice on encryption rules before new rules are implemented
The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is seeking advice on the interpretation of specific digital asset regulatory activities under its crypto roadmap. This consultation covers how to include activities such as stable currency issuance, trading platforms, custody and pledge into the scope of supervision. Consultation will close on June 3, 2026, and crypto companies can apply for FCA authorization from September 30, 2026. The FCA said that the consultation on rules for the future crypto asset regime has been basically completed and a policy statement will be released this summer. Before the implementation of the new legislative regime in 2027, crypto assets remain largely unregulated in the UK, except for financial promotion and financial crime purposes.
