US judge questions Trump's $10 billion IRS leak lawsuit
On April 25, a judge expressed doubts that President Trump's $10 billion privacy lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the U.S. Treasury Department could continue because Trump effectively controls both sides of the lawsuit. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams ordered the Justice Department to explain in writing by May 20 how she should regulate cases when the Constitution requires courts to have legitimate jurisdiction in "adversarial disputes" to hear cases. The judge said that given that Trump is the current president and that his named opponent is an entity under his leadership,"it is not clear to this court whether the parties are sufficiently opposed" to establish jurisdiction.
