France cracks down on cryptocurrency wrench attacks and charges 88 people, including some minors

Such crimes usually involve criminals forcing victims to hand over cryptographic assets through threats of violence. It has been disclosed that since 2023, France has recorded 135 such incidents of violence related to cryptocurrencies. This enforcement action reflects a nationwide surge in offline crimes against holders as the value of cryptocurrencies rises.
