Solana releases quantum roadmap to select Falcon solutions and existing migration work is in place
Solana officially published an article on the potential impact of quantum computing on blockchain, reiterating that the quantum threat is still years away, but the Solana ecosystem has made sufficient research and technical preparations in advance. After independent research, the independent verification client development teams Anza and Firedancer (which together represent the majority of the network's pledge share) agreed that a post-quantum digital signature scheme with compact signatures and suitable for high-throughput blockchains was needed, and they jointly selected Falcon. solution. Both parties have released the initial implementation code on GitHub. In addition, SolanaWinternitzVault developed by Blueshift has been running in the ecosystem for more than two years, providing a direct anti-quantum path. Earlier this year, Google QuantumAI listed the Vault in its white paper as the industry's leading example of forward-looking post-quantum work. Solana's current quantum roadmap includes continuing quantum research and evaluating Falcon and alternatives; adopting post-quantum solutions for new wallets when quantum becomes a credible threat; and migrating existing wallets to selected solutions. Officials said the migration is controllable and can be completed quickly by then, and network performance is not expected to be significantly affected.
