NicCarter: Quantum Canary cannot provide adequate warning Bitcoin needs to immediately start anti-quantum migration preparations

NicCarter, a partner at CastleIsland Ventures, published a long article on the X platform, pointing out that the "canary warning" mechanism of quantum computing cannot provide enough buffer time for BTC. Classical computers can now crack about 117 to 130 bits of elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP). However, quantum computing results below this threshold are often easily suspected of "classic cheating" or preset answers, so they cannot form an effective signal. NicCarter believes that once a quantum computer truly breaks through this classical limit, it may be only a few months away from the 256-bit secp256k1 curve used to directly attack Bitcoin, while it will take years to migrate the quantum signature after Bitcoin is completed. Whether setting a quantum crack bounty address or relying on Satoshi Nakamoto's early sleeping address as an on-chain warning, there is no guarantee that risks will be discovered in advance. Therefore, the really feasible way is not to wait for a clear warning, but to immediately start post-quantum (PQ) migration preparation. Previously, BitMEXResearch proposed an alternative to quantum freezing: the "canary address" trigger mechanism.
