On May 17, Polish lawmakers on Friday approved a government-backed bill to bring the country's cryptocurrency market into the EU Cryptocurrency Market Regulation (MiCA) framework, after President Carol Nawotsky twice vetoed an earlier version of the bill. According to official parliamentary records, the vote was taken at the 57th session of the House of Representatives in Warsaw on Friday, and lawmakers passed the legislation with a vote of 241 to 200. With the support of the Ministry of Finance, the approved bill (No. 2529) gives the Polish Financial Supervisory Authority (KNF) the power to supervise market participants, impose administrative penalties and temporarily freeze accounts and transactions.
