On May 18, Folhade S.Paulo reported that data obtained through the Information Disclosure Law showed that the Brazilian federal police seized approximately US$14 million in crime-related crypto assets in 2025, an increase of more than six times compared with 2024. The related assets involved cases such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, environmental crime and money laundering. The police seized Bitcoin and stablecoins in investigations such as Pix infrastructure hacking and money laundering organizations. The report also pointed out that approximately US$14 million accounts for only a small part of the scale of declared transactions in the Brazilian crypto market. The amount of crypto transactions declared by Brazil to tax authorities last year was approximately US$100 billion.
