On May 22, Josh Stevens, vice president of engineering at Polymarket, issued a document stating that with the assistance of ZachXBT, BitcoinVN and ChangeNOW, US$164,000 of stolen funds had been frozen in the Polymarket private key disclosure incident, accounting for approximately 28.6% of the total amount transferred of US$573,200. This incident did not affect Polymarket or UMA smart contracts, user funds were safe, and the platform was operating normally. Investigation revealed that the accident originated from the disclosure of a private key that had existed for about 6 years. The private key was used for internal recharge configuration, resulting in funds continuing to be sent to the affected address. Currently, relevant teams are continuing to track the flow of the remaining stolen funds.
