South Korea's petition to cancel cryptocurrency tax is supported by 50,000 people and included on the agenda of the National Assembly
According to South Korean media "Seoul Economy", a national petition calling for the abolition of cryptocurrency taxation has been included on the agenda of the National Assembly for discussion. The "Petition to Cancel the Virtual Asset Tax" released on the Congressional Electronic Petition Platform received the support of more than 50,000 people in just eight days and met the conditions for submission to the Standing Committee for review. The petition will be transferred to the Financial and Economic Committee, which oversees the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Internal Revenue Agency, for review, and will then decide whether to submit it to the plenary session for review. The petitioners argued that "now that the tax on financial investment gains on stocks has been eliminated and the tax relief policy has been implemented, it is unreasonable to impose a separate tax on virtual currencies alone," adding that "the current system needs a comprehensive review, not just a simple supplement."
