On May 28, SpaceX CEO Musk said on Thursday that SpaceX would only agree to lease the Colossus AI training data center cluster to Anthropic for six months, but added that the agreement was "likely" to be extended to several years. "SpaceX has not committed to leasing Colossus for many years, although this could indeed happen," Musk said. Earlier this year, SpaceX reached an agreement with Anthropic, which will pay $1.25 billion a month to use computing power from the Colossus and Colossus II data center clusters in Memphis, Tennessee, that is valid until May 2029. SpaceX said in regulatory filings last week that both parties could terminate the agreement with 90 days 'notice. The document does not mention a six-month lease agreement. Musk said the agreement is a 180-day lease contract that can be terminated by both parties after 90 days 'notice."We will not put them in trouble and will provide a reasonable exit plan, but if computing resources become extremely tight, I have said we may need to take those resources back at some point." According to SpaceX's IPO filing documents, the company's AI business unit reported revenue of US$818 million in the March quarter and an operating loss of approximately US$2.5 billion. (Jin Shi)
