Ledger joint kidnapping case solved Spanish police arrest last fugitive suspect

French Ledger co-founder David Balland was kidnapped by a criminal gang in January 2025, who cut off his fingers and extorted US$11.5 million worth of Bitcoin. After the incident, police acted quickly to rescue Balland and his partner, and arrested 10 suspects at the scene, but one suspect took advantage of the chaos and fled to Spain. After several weeks of joint pursuit by police in Western and Spanish countries, the suspect was finally arrested in Benalmadena, Spain. Currently, the Fuengirola Court is advancing extradition procedures in accordance with the EU European Arrest Warrant Agreement, and the French authorities have confirmed that they have identified and arrested all those involved in the case.
