The United States held preliminary discussions on acquiring shares in many artificial intelligence companies such as OpenAI
On June 5, NOTUS quoted three people familiar with the matter as reporting that senior U.S. officials had held preliminary discussions with a number of large artificial intelligence companies to explore the possibility of the federal government acquiring some shares in these companies. Reported that since Trump started his second term, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has regularly discussed the idea with senior Trump administration officials. Altman reportedly proposed the concept directly to Trump as early as 2025; he has discussed the matter again with senior officials in recent weeks. The focus of the discussion is on the voluntary transfer of shares by these companies to the government. Investment returns can be used for public purposes, such as paying dividends to all American households. A White House spokesman declined to comment on the matter. (Sina Finance)
