Iranian Foreign Ministry: Iran and the United States potential understanding is only a non-final agreement to continue dialogue
According to Xinhua Agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bagae said on the 13th that any understanding that may be reached between Iran and the United States is only to promote the two sides to continue dialogue, rather than a final agreement; unfreezing Iran's frozen assets will be an indispensable part of the Iran-US understanding.
In a meeting with media sources, Bagae said that Iran's current focus is on ending fighting and regional tensions on all fronts, and will not discuss the details of the nuclear issue in depth at this stage. He said the only way to achieve regional security is to end the presence of foreign military forces in the region.
Bagae emphasized that the issue of unfreezing Iranian assets is an important part of the understanding and will not be excluded. Discussions at this stage also include eliminating U.S. hostile actions against Iranian ships and issues related to the Strait of Hormuz.
Bagae said that Iran will act with the greatest degree of caution when advancing negotiations and diplomatic processes, while remaining vigilant based on past experience. If the other party refuses to fulfill its obligations, Iran can take countermeasures.
