Federal prosecutors filed documents with a judge questioning the authenticity of a letter FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried claimed was sent from prison, CoinDesk reported. Prosecutors pointed out that the letter was actually sent through FedEx from Palo Alto or Menlo Park, which did not match the federal prison where it was located, Terminal Island, and that the letter mistakenly marked the federal prison where it was located as a state facility and used a typed signature instead of a handwritten signature, violating the federal prison's ban on sending letters by private courier.<br /> Although the prosecutor did not directly accuse SBF or its associates of falsifying documents, he said that the above inconsistencies were enough to raise reasonable doubts about the source of the letter and would affect the credibility of the relevant evidence in his retrial application. SBF is currently sentenced to 25 years in prison for fraud and conspiracy and is actively seeking a retrial, but the appeal judge has shown clear doubts about its claims.
