Prevention of Chief Executives: Israeli troops have been instructed to prepare for long-term stay in the "safe zone" in southern Lebanon
On June 28 and 27 local time, Israeli Defense Minister Katz issued a statement saying that the framework agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon is expected to create a new and safer reality on Israel's northern border and Lebanon for the first time in decades. Katz said that Israel will "maintain its existing deployment" in Lebanon and will continue to control the "safe zone" in southern Lebanon designated by Israel, including the Beaufort Heights. A prerequisite for Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon is that Hezbollah must disarm throughout Lebanon. Katz said he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had "instructed the Israel Defense Forces to prepare for a long-term presence in the 'safe area'." "Iran tried to force Israel to withdraw its troops from Lebanon through threats and pressure on the United States, but they failed," Katz said in the statement. He said that if Iran tried to prevent the implementation of the agreement by attacking Israel, Israel would counterattack vigorously. (CCTV News)
