Israeli PM says there is no space for two countries
On June 27 local time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference saying that there is no room for "two countries" from the ocean to the Jordan River. Netanyahu also said that the Israeli public had previously been divided on the issue of the "two-state solution", but that attitude had changed in the past three years (after a new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict broke out in October 2023). Public opinion analysis believes that Netanyahu's latest remarks mean that the idea of establishing a Palestinian state coexisting peacefully with Israel in the territories occupied by Israel in the 1967 Middle East War has encountered the latest blow-although 157 of the 193 Member States of the United Nations have recognized Palestine's statehood.
