Ethereum Foundation completes Argot's five-year funding of 4938 stETH to unlock in two batches
ArgotCollective and the Ethereum Foundation (EF) jointly announced that the five-year funding commitments of both parties have been fully fulfilled, and a total of 4,938 stETH pieces will be transferred to the exclusive multi-signature wallet and unlocked in two batches: July 1, 2026 and July 1, 2027. Previously, funding for the first three years was released last year, and the remaining two years of funding have now been finalized due to delays in governance and terms negotiation. The funds are jointly managed by Argot, the newly established Failure Protection Committee, and the Ethereum Foundation to form a 2/3 multi-signed trust; the independent committee serves as an arbitrator of disputes, providing professional advice on programming languages and compilers to ensure Argot's development independence. Argot said that this funding provides substantial guarantee for team operations, but long-term ecological challenges still exist: the Ethereum Foundation has a limited funding scale, and public infrastructure such as pledge, DeFi, and underlying agreements cannot rely on a single funding entity for a long time. The team will maintain a semi-annual transparency report and roadmap update mechanism.
