The net increase in new currency listings on South Korea's five largest crypto exchanges in the first half of the year fell by approximately 74% year-on-year, transaction volume fell by 34%
According to EToday, South Korea's five major virtual asset exchanges (Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit, and Gopax) added only 117 new transaction support in the first half of the year, a decrease of 44% from 210 in the same period last year; the net increase dropped sharply from 191 to 49, a year-on-year decline of 74%.<br />
At the same time, the number of transaction support terminations surged from 19 to 68, an increase of 258%. Global virtual asset trading volume recorded US$46.07 billion in June, down 34% from US$70 billion in the same period last year. The shrinking trading volume directly compressed fee income. Dunamu (Upbit's parent company) and Bithumb accounted for 97.49% and 99.99% of operating income respectively in the first quarter. The problem of high reliance on retail spot transactions has been highlighted.
