US House of Representatives vetoes proposal to cut military aid to Israel
On July 16, the U.S. House of Representatives rejected a proposal to cut military aid to Israel by a vote of 314 to 104, but this vote highlighted the growing divisions within the Democratic Party over U.S. support for Israel. The amendment is supported by 103 Democratic lawmakers and one Republican congressman. If passed, it will cut off billions of dollars in annual security aid to Israel. However, the outside world has previously believed that the amendment has little chance of being enacted.
