A Bitcoin wallet unused since the end of 2017 transferred 5,907.56 BTC, worth approximately $384 million, on Thursday, with funds transferred to a new address. GalaxyResearch data shows that these BTC were originally received on December 14, 2017 and transferred in Bitcoin block 958217 at approximately UTC00:15. The agency estimates that the relevant positions have appreciated by approximately US$286 million, or 291%, from the average purchase price of approximately US$17,000. Funds were transferred to previously unidentified wallets rather than a known exchange recharge address, and the information on the chain did not show that the holder had sold Bitcoin. The transfer also migrates BTC from traditional addresses that start with "1" to the newer bc1q address format.
