USDT faces two-year compliance countdown on U.S. encryption platforms
On July 19, CoinDesk reported that overseas stablecoin issuers such as Tether may need to meet the requirements of the GENIUS Act before July 2028, otherwise they risk losing their eligibility to be listed on a centralized exchange in the United States. Compliance requirements may include registration with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), compliance with U.S. freezing and seizure orders, and adjustments to the USDT reserve structure. Federal regulators have not yet finalized implementation rules.
