Goldman Sachs creates private equity market platform

On July 22, Goldman Sachs reportedly launched a new platform to expand its offerings to wealthy clients and family offices who want to invest directly in private companies. According to an internal memo, goldman's new division, called alternative investment platform, consolidates goldman's existing alternative investment business and joins two new teams. According to the memorandum, the two new teams focus on direct investments in individual private companies and helping clients buy and sell stakes in such private companies.
