Galaxy Digital acquires 500 acres of land in Texas to build its second AI data center park
On July 28, crypto financial company GalaxyDigital announced that it had acquired approximately 500 acres of land in McGregor, Texas, to build its second large-scale AI and high-performance computing (HPC) data center park in the state. The project will be promoted jointly with the City of McGregor and local partners. The first phase of the project has a planned capacity of 74MW. It is expected to be supplied with electricity in 2028 and is planned to expand to hundreds of megawatts by 2030. Galaxy previously acquired Helios Bitcoin Mining Park in West Texas in 2022 and gradually turned to AI and high-performance computing businesses. Currently, the Texas Electric Reliability Commission (ERCOT) has approved Galaxy to expand Helios to 1.63GW capacity, which has been leased by AI cloud computing company CoreWeave for 15 years.
