US media: US and Israel plan to expand energy facilities for military operations in Iraq or become a key target
On August 1, CBS News quoted multiple sources as reporting that the United States and Israel are planning to launch "one of the most violent rounds of bombing operations to date" on Iran's energy infrastructure. The targets may include power plants and refineries, and the operation may last throughout the weekend. Sources said Israel has been notified and coordinated with the United States, but Trump has not yet issued a final approval order. The report pointed out that the plan was proposed at Trump's Camp David cabinet meeting on Friday. Some White House political affairs aides strongly opposed it, fearing that the action could impact the U.S. and global economy. "We are going to hit them very hard," Trump said. The United States has also discussed cutting off Tehran's power supply, but has not yet decided. Trump had previously said that for every attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would bomb an Iranian bridge or power plant. If this operation is implemented, it will mean that Israel resumes military operations that were previously suspended due to the US-brokered ceasefire.
