Mitsubishi UFJ economist: Federal Reserve will cut interest rates in 2027
On August 3, Derek Halpern, an economist at Bank of Mitsubishi UFJ, said that the Fed's next policy action is likely to cut interest rates in 2027. He said on Monday that oil prices are expected to fall as the Trump administration pushes for an agreement with Iran, which will create more policy space for Federal Reserve Chairman Walsh without raising interest rates. "I think this administration is increasingly concerned about the level of U.S. interest rates and the continued slow upward trend of interest rates." He also said that there may also be concerns about higher U.S. bond yields behind the joint actions of the United States and Japan to boost the yen.
