The second batch of stablecoin licenses will be issued around National Day? Hong Kong Monetary Authority: Not commenting on market rumors, remain open and cautious
On August 6, there was recent market news that as the first batch of stablecin issuers advanced testing and business preparations, Hong Kong's stablecin issuance may further accelerate, and the second batch of stablecin issuer licenses may be implemented around the National Day. In response to the above market rumors, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority replied to a reporter from the Financial Union today that he would not comment on market rumors, but the HKMA holds an open and cautious attitude towards whether to issue additional stablecoin issuer licenses and timing. There is no clear tendency at this stage. The spokesperson further stated that the current focus of the HKMA's work is to promote the business preparations of the two licensed stablecoin issuers, and to observe the implementation of relevant application scenarios, operational results and market reactions after they successfully issue compliant stablecoin. As for whether to issue additional licenses in the future, various factors need to be comprehensively considered, including whether the application meets the licensing requirements, market demand for stablecoins, actual applications, and development trends and regulatory discussions at the international level.
