CoinDCX Lianchuang was arrested by Indian police on suspicion of fraud. The exchange said it was a counterfeit website and a false name.
According to TheBlock, SumitGupta and NeerajKhandelwal, co-founders of CoinDCX, India's largest cryptocurrency exchange, were arrested by Tana police on suspicion of fraud and remanded in custody until today. The case stems from a report filed by an insurance consultant who claimed a loss of approximately $85,000 through a bogus investment plan related to CoinDCX. CoinDCX called the report "false," saying the fraud was committed by impostors through counterfeit websites, not through its platform, and said more than 1200 fake websites that counterfeit its domain names have been reported since April 2024. The arrest is the second time in less than a year that a CoinDCX-related person has been detained by police, following the arrest in July 2025 of a software engineer in connection with a $44 million hack on the exchange. CoinDCX was established in 2018 and was valued at US$2.45 billion after receiving investment from Coinbase Ventures in October 2025.
