Orb: Farcaster should get rid of its reliance on a single long-term manager

On August 21, Kimmo Siren, Lens product leader and Orb co-founder, said that the more important issue for Farcaster is not "who will take over the offer", but to develop the agreement to a stage where it no longer relies on a long-term manager. He believes that a complete decentralized social protocol should allow any client to directly read, write, replay and verify the complete history without having to trust the single team responsible for the storage infrastructure or holding the verifier key. Siren said that as infrastructure such as Ethereumblobs and EIP-4844 matures, social data can be written in batches at low cost and re-hosted by anyone, while being verified by on-chain commitments. He hopes to build a replicable and verifiable social state on the chain so that even if management teams change, the Social networks themselves can continue to exist.
