Nvidia appears in various aspects Anthropic signs a $35 billion cloud deal with Lambda
On September 1, according to the Wall Street Journal citing people familiar with the matter, Anthropic had signed a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with Lambda, a cloud computing provider backed by Nvidia, which itself holds the lease for the data center. People familiar with the matter said Nvidia signed an agreement with Hut8 a few weeks ago to ensure access to the data center's computing power. This complex arrangement once again highlights Nvidia's increasingly important role in helping non-investment-grade companies such as Anthropic access their expensive computing resources. The deal also helped emerging cloud provider Lambda sign a lucrative contract with Anthropic without having to purchase its own data center space. Lambda will use the data center being developed by Hut8 to access chips purchased from Nvidia, which is also an investor in Lambda. It is unclear how much Lambda will have to pay Nvidia to use the data center space. Anthropic suffered a computing power supply bottleneck earlier this year and has been racing to sign cloud capacity agreements since then. (Jin Shi)
