Bezos 'Blue Origin poached dozens of Amazon satellite engineers
On September 3, Jeff Bezos 'Blue Origin was developing its planned satellite network, and its employees were hired from Amazon, another company owned by Bezos. According to LinkedIn, the billionaire's space company has poached at least 47 senior employees of Amazon's Leo satellite project in the past year. Based on an analysis of their online posts, many are currently involved in the development of TeraWave, Blue Origin's emerging satellite communications project. Amazon Leo plans to start selling broadband Internet services to customers by the end of this year, and will eventually be rolled out to homes, businesses and governments around the world. TeraWave, which was announced in January by Blue Origin, is seeking regulatory approval to build an equally ambitious satellite network of thousands of satellites to serve corporate and government customers that require large amounts of data transmission, needs that previously typically required customized fiber optic connections.
