On September 6, Arbitrum founder Steven Goldfeder and Solana co-founder Toly argued over the RobinhoodChain fee model. Tory claimed that the 10% revenue share RobinhodChain paid Arbitrum was enough to cover four times the transaction fees on the Solana chain, implying that user Gas fees could be significantly reduced based on Solana deployments. In this regard, Goldfeder stated that Robinhood can retain about 90% of Gas revenue under the Arbitrum structure, so he chose Arbitrum to "be a landlord, not a tenant." Tory countered that Robinhood could charge on the front end of the application while using the lower-cost underlying network;Goldfeder said that a large number of on-chain activities do not pass through the Robinhood front end, and if they were just "tenants" of the underlying network, Robinhood would not be able to obtain the revenue generated by these peripheral activities.
