On September 6, News.bitcoin reported that Chilean cryptocurrency exchange Orionx had stopped operations and suspended user withdrawals after a legal audit found a funding gap of more than US$7 million. The audit revealed that assets in custody were transferred to external wallets outside the company's control. Orionx accused founding partners Joaquín Díaz, Roberto Zibert and other former employees of knowing and participating in relevant transactions, and reported the case to the prosecutor and filed a criminal complaint. The transaction allegedly occurred between 2018 and 2021, and the funds were used for speculative trading on other platforms. The platform has more than 100,000 registered users, and there is currently no guarantee that users will get back their funds in full. The Chilean Financial Markets Commission (CMF) pointed out that Orionx is not authorized for crypto-financial services (its application was rejected in July) and is operating illegally, and recommends that users keep transaction records and use legal channels to protect their rights if necessary.
