Circle adds support for prepaid CCTP fees to cover all compatible EVM chains
On September 8, the Circle Cross-Chain Transport Protocol CCTP now supports the fast transfer and prepaid handling fee function. Previously, the agreement fee would be directly deducted from the USDC transfer amount on the target chain; after this update, developers can pre-quote and collect the fee through the source chain native Gas token or USDC before the transfer is executed, thereby simplifying the cost processing of cross-chain transfers and ensuring that users receive the expected number of USDC. According to reports, the prepaid fee mechanism mainly improves the predictability of fees in cross-chain applications. Users do not need to bear the reduction in the actual amount received due to additional deductions on the target chain side; at the same time, the CCTPQuoteAPI can uniformly calculate the fees for different support chains, and integrates FastTransfer and Forwarding fees into a single quote. Developers do not need to build their own system to calculate multiple agreement fees separately. In addition, the handling fee can be paid directly using source chain native tokens and will not reduce or affect the actual transferred USDC balance. Currently, the prepaid fee function already supports all EVM chain USDC transfers covered by CCTP, but transfers initiated from Solana are not supported for the time being, and transfers to Solana are still supported. Developers can obtain specific fee quotes through QuoteAPI and access this function. Relevant developers can refer to CCTP official documents to build a more predictable cross-chain USDC transfer process.
