The United States accuses China AI companies such as DeepSeek and Moonshot AI of "large-scale malicious distillation" of American technology

On September 9, Reuters reported that U.S. law enforcement and intelligence officials accused six China AI companies, including DeepSeek, Moonshot AI and Alibaba, of using U.S. corporate models such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and SpaceX to train their products through "distillation" methods, saying that the relevant behavior may be carried out with the knowledge of the China government, and warned that it might enhance China's military and cyber attack capabilities.
