ASML announced that it will implement a unified price adjustment for replacement parts and components of lithography equipment supplied to South Korea, an increase of 10%. This adjustment will apply to all subsequent supplies starting from January 2024, covering all parts of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography equipment. According to industry news on the 10th, ASML proposed a price increase plan to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix through its South Korean branch last month, and reached an agreement after consultation between the purchasing departments of both parties. The price increase covers routinely purchased expendable components and core components that need to be replaced due to equipment failure or performance degradation. Lithography equipment consists of a large number of components such as optical systems, light sources, and precision drives, and its continuous operating costs will increase accordingly. It is worth noting that ASML has previously only adjusted individual prices for individual parts and components when raw material prices fluctuate significantly or specific materials are in short supply. However, this time, the overall price increase strategy of 10% is relatively rare. Experts in the semiconductor field pointed out that the complexity of parts and components has led to price changes having a significant impact on overall costs.
