Zhao Changpeng released guidelines for the custody of encrypted assets, recommending choosing custody methods based on asset size and technical capabilities

As the founder of Binance, Zhao Changpeng recently launched concise guidelines for the custody of cryptographic assets, emphasizing that users need to choose appropriate security strategies based on their personal positions and technical literacy, focusing on avoiding the three major risks of asset theft, accidental loss and inheritance arrangements. Regarding the self-hosting solution, it proposes operational suggestions such as using offline devices to store private keys, deploying trusted hardware wallets, verifying the validity of transaction addresses, and establishing a multi-region backup system. At the same time, it warns users not to store keys through images or screenshots to avoid triggering the cloud. Synchronization mechanism causes information leakage. In terms of asset inheritance, the guide requires the construction of a secure key recovery mechanism in advance, and it is strictly prohibited to directly transmit keys or store recovery certificates in clear text. For centralized trading platforms, Zhao Changpeng suggested that users conduct in-depth inspections of platform qualifications, security protection systems and operating models, and should simultaneously enable multiple safeguard measures such as independent email addresses, strong password policies, dual-factor authentication, hardware security keys and white lists of cash withdrawal addresses.
