It is reported that American and Israeli leaders are in talks about jointly attacking Iran again.
On October 14th, Israeli television channel Channel 12 reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had held several phone conversations with U.S. President Donald Trump. The discussions involved the possibility of launching a joint military strike against Iran before the Israeli parliamentary elections on October 27th and the U.S. midterm elections on November 3rd. According to sources familiar with the matter, Netanyahu argued that Iran had taken “concerning new steps” in the nuclear field, thereby advocating for joint military action between the United States and Israel. However, senior U.S. government officials indicated that Trump had instructed relevant departments in both countries to “proceed with preparations.” Yet, the U.S. has yet to make any substantial commitments to Israel. It is worth noting that Trump previously stated publicly that he would not attack Iran before the midterm elections. The report also noted that there are differences within the governments of both the United States and Israel regarding whether to resume the joint strike. Meanwhile, mediators including Qatar are still waiting for a response from Iran to the latest negotiation proposals put forward by the U.S.
