The Dutch Central Bank has granted Qivalis the license to issue digital currencies. Qivalis plans to launch a stablecoin in euros.
According to CoinDesk, Qivalis, a company based in Amsterdam, has obtained an EMI license from the Dutch National Bank (DNB). This consortium, consisting of 37 major European banks, is now ready to start issuing electronic currency tokens denominated in euros. However, Qivalis still needs to meet other requirements outlined in the EU’s Cryptocurrency Market Regulation (MiCA), such as releasing a whitepaper, before the tokens can be officially launched within the next few months. With this license, Qivalis will be able to provide banks and payment institutions with tools to transfer euros using blockchain technology. It is planned that these tokens will not be distributed directly to consumers, but rather through banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, and payment services providers. Since its establishment in September 2025, this consortium has grown to include 37 European banks, including BB.
