More than 150,000 people have opened AI trading accounts on Robinhood. The CEO hopes that retail investors’ strategies will become more similar to those used by exchanges.
Robinhood's CEO, Vlad Tenev, predicted in a recent interview that a significant portion of retail transactions in the future will be handled by AI. These AI agents can monitor the market around the clock and handle transactions involving various assets such as stocks, options, and cryptocurrencies. However, most funds are likely to remain held for long periods of time. In May this year, Robinhood allowed users to connect to third-party AI agents through the MCP platform. By the end of September, the company announced that these agents would be integrated directly into the app. At that time, more than 150,000 customers had established dedicated trading accounts. Currently, funds are still managed through separate accounts: the AI agent can access information from other users’ accounts, but orders can only be placed within the dedicated account, and funds must be transferred manually by the user. Tenev said that technically, direct integration with the main platform is possible.
