Katie Haun, founder and CEO of crypto venture capital firm HaunVentures, told CNBC that "what is happening in the global payments space is actually an arms race. MasterCard's acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK this week for up to $1.8 billion has officially entered the stablecoin space. This is one of MasterCard's largest acquisitions in history. Stable coins can transfer digital dollars around the world instantly and friction-free, which is a truly important innovation. Currently, transaction volume in this field has reached US$12.5 trillion, and we believe that this scale will only continue to grow in the AI era." At the regulatory level, Katie Haun said,"This week the CFTC and the SEC jointly issued guidance on what constitutes a securities and what constitutes a commodity, a core issue in the crypto industry. I have heard that the Senate Banking Committee is advancing a compromise that could be announced as early as today, and I am cautiously optimistic. But the key issue is that Congress actually only has three working months left before the midterm elections, and they need to quickly push the CLARITY Act to the vote after the Easter recess." Talking about the combination of AI and blockchain, Katie Haun said,"AI agents will increasingly replace humans to complete transactions and payments. If you think that AI agents will use the same payment system as humans, I think that's wrong. Agents require 7×24 hours of instant settlement around the world, and stablecoins are the infrastructure built for this new era."
